Welcome to the unofficial website of the Friendship Home. These are some pictures and videos of some of the kids who live here from the Friendship Home in Valencia, Philippines, near where I grew up. We’ve taken them on as a project of sorts, beginning when I first visited there a few years ago.

These kids all have tragic histories and face uncertain futures. How could they not? They are penniless orphans in a poor country. They have nothing, and no ability to change that. They have no one, and no way to change that, either. They survive on the kindness of complete strangers. It’s a terrible way to start a life. They need help, and for the cost of your monthly latté budget - or less - you can give it to them.

The sole source of money to take care of these children comes from the collection plates of the local Catholic diocese on one day a year; February 2. This is generally just enough to keep the kids in a set of clothes or two and basic food necessities. I decided we could also put forth an effort once a year to help these kids. We’re not going to nag you. Please give $1, $5, $20...anything will help. Have your kids give a dollar. Mail it if you need to. Every penny received will go directly towards food, clothing, medical care, entertainment, or building expenses. I don’t anticipate raising enough money to change the bleak futures these kids face, as much as I’d like to. For now, I'm happy just to give them a reason to smile. You can give them a reason to smile too, for almost nothing more than the time it takes to click “Donate.”

Thank you very much for any help you can give.

Thanks,

Toni Phillips
